LONDON (Reuters – Boris Johnson, British Prime Minister, will announce Monday plans to eliminate coronavirus regulations as part of a strategy known as “living with CoVID”. The goal is to get out faster from the pandemic than major economies.

Johnson announced the lifting of all pandemic requirements that restrict personal liberty, as Hong Kong constructs isolation units, and Europe maintains social distancing, vaccine rules and social distancing, just days after Queen Elizabeth was confirmed positive.

These plans have been in place for several weeks and will see Britain become the first European country to permit people infected by COVID-19 free access to shops, public transport, and work.

Johnson stated on Sunday that he didn’t want people “to throw caution to the winds” and there wasn’t a case for complacency. However, the rollout of the vaccine meant that the government was moving from state mandate to encouraging individual responsibility.

81% of adults have had their English language skills boosted.

He said that today would be a day of celebration after one of our most challenging periods in the country’s history, as we learn to live together with COVID.

Britain has more than 160,000 deaths within just 28 days after contracting the disease. It reported around 43,000 infections per day and 144 deaths in the week that followed.

Johnson was urged not to get too excited about national health. However, government advisors suggested that lifting restrictions could cause rapid epidemic growth because people’s behavior will shift more rapidly than in previous periods of the pandemic.

The government’s efforts to maintain the economy have been combined with mass rapid testing and a requirement of five days self-isolation. This approach allowed the country to successfully navigate the Omicron variant, which is highly transmissible.

Following detections by British scientists of earlier variants, officials said they would keep some systems under surveillance and have contingency plans.

Johnson was asked by a reporter on Sunday if Johnson would be willing to take the risk of the pandemic. Johnson said that the government couldn’t continue spending 2 billion pounds ($2.7 million) per month for testing.

Many members of his Conservative Party have also urged him to remove COVID-19 restrictions that they consider too harsh.
