Airbus plans mid-decade demonstrator for hydrogen plane -Breaking

PARIS (Reuters), – Airbus plans to construct a demonstration aircraft for hydrogen planes in mid-decade, according industry sources. It will be built with CFM International engine manufacturer.

A news conference will be held with the “key engine partner” on Tuesday at 1400 GMT to highlight its recent milestones in building a zero-emission plane.

Airbus refused to comment.

In order to support research and development on the project which are part of global efforts in decreasing aviation’s emissions, a modified version of current-generation engine is planned.

CFM is the largest maker of jet engines in the world by number sold. CFM declined to comment. The joint owners are General Electric (NYSE: Safran (PA:).
