(Reuters) – Citigroup Inc (NYSE 🙂 asked all vaccinated employees to return to the office starting from Wednesday, March 21, according an internal memo that was seen and interpreted by Reuters.
According to the memo, staff will be working in the office minimum two days per week. The New York Tri-State Bank staff has already begun to come into the office since February 7.
Citi’s human resources head Sara Wechter stated in the memo that although COVID-19 will never disappear completely, she is seeing encouraging developments.
Employers and politicians are increasingly embracing the idea of treating the virus as a normal part of daily life. This is evident in the bank’s recent move. In several states, including New York and New Jersey, mask regulations were relaxed earlier this month.
Wall Street bank and investment companies have shown more initiative than others in asking employees to return to work.
Citigroup announced in January that any unvaccinated staff members would go on unpaid leaves and be fired by the end of the month. Nearly 99% had met the vaccination mandate by January-end.
