eBay Earnings Beat in Q4, but Softer Guidance Weighs; Shares Fall -Breaking

On Wednesday, Investing.com and eBay (NASDAQ) reported that the first quarter guidance was softened. This overshadowed the fourth quarter that beat analyst forecasts. The company also revealed that revenue was consistent with analysts’ expectations.

After-hours trading saw eBay shares fall 11%

eBay reported earnings per share at $1.05 on revenues of $2.61 trillion. Investing.com polled its analysts to predict EPS at 99 cents for revenue of $2.61 Billion.

Gross merchandise volume decreased 10% by as-reported and 11% by FX-neutral to $20.7 Billion.

The operating margin fell to 26.3% in the fourth quarter 2021, as compared with 26.7% last year.

A 22% increase in quarterly dividend to 22c per share was made. The company also increased its share repurchase program with an additional $4.0 Billion

For the first quarter of 2018, earnings per share were expected to range from $1.01-$1.05 on revenues of $2.43 to $2.48 trillion, as compared to earnings of $1.08 on revenues of $2.61.

Company forecasts 2022 revenue between $10.3 billion – $10.5 billion, and earnings between $4.20 – $4.40 per Share. This compares to a consensus revenue estimate of $10.91billion with earnings at $4.50 per share.
