Own shares eBayExtended trading on Wednesday saw a drop of 11% after extended trading. This was following the announcement by online marketplace, which had its fourth quarter earnings. gave guidanceWall Street was disappointed with the results of its first quarter.

Below are the results versus the Refinitiv consensus for the quarter.

  • EPS: Ex-Items: $1.05 Per Share, 99 Cents Expected
  • Revenue: 2.61 billion, against the expected figure of 2.61 billion.

EBay projected that the first-quarter revenues would range between $2.43 and $2.48 Billion, representing a drop of 7% to 5% from year to year. FactSet reported that analysts were expecting revenue to average $2.61 billion.

According to FactSet estimates, it expected $1.01-1.05 in adjusted earnings per s share for the first quarter. That was less than what FactSet had predicted at $1.08.

This disappointing guidance was more important than eBay’s higher-than-expected fourth-quarter earnings. Earnings per share for the fourth quarter were $1.05 adjusted. Refinitiv analysts polled expected 99c per share.

In line with Wall Street estimates, revenue was $2.61 trillion.

Quarterly, annual active buyers fell 9% to 147million, far below the forecast of analysts FactSet, which predicted 156 million active buyers. The number of annual active sellers fell 8% to 17 millions.
