FRANKFURT (Reuters), Despite large natural disaster claims, Munich Re, a German reinsurance firm, said Wednesday that it had more than doubled its net profit in 2021 due to the recovery from the coronavirus pandemic.

The net profit at 2.9billion euros is 3.28 billion more than the 1.2billion euros earned a year ago. Although the figure matches analyst expectations, it slightly exceeds the company’s goal of 2.8billion euros.
