REUTERS/Thilo SchmuelgenFRANKFURT, (Reuters) – Uniper (one of five co-financiers Gazprom’s Nord Stream 2) is not currently examining legal options in light of Germany’s decision, the chief executive stated.
Klaus-Dieter Maubach, after reporting full-year results to journalists, stated that they are not dealing with legal questions, at least for the time.
“Because of our hope for a diplomat solution, we expect a diplomatic solution very quickly, then the certification process surrounding Nord Stream can be resumed.”
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz effectively canceled the project on Tuesday, stating that the Economy Ministry of the country had to make a new assessment about whether or not the pipeline was placing European energy supplies at risk.
Maubach stated, “I believe that if someone considers taking legal action against either the German government nor the European Commission it would be Nord Stream 2,… not us being essentially a financial investor.”
“And they don’t seem to be considering this type of action.”
