The weekly number of jobless claims was slightly lower last week than forecast, and the economic growth rate to 2021 was slightly greater than previously reported according to Thursday’s government data.

The Labor Department reported that initial filings for unemployment insurance reached 232,000 in the week ending February 19. It was slightly below the Dow Jones 235,000-estimate and down 17,000 from previous weeks.

The Commerce Department also reported that Gross Domestic Product, which is the sum of all products and services in the U.S., increased at an annualized rate of 7% during the fourth-quarter.
