(Reuters] Moderna Inc Thursday forecast higher sales for the second quarter of 2018 as COVID-19 becomes an endemic flu-like illness. People are encouraged to have regular vaccines.

From $18.5 billion, the company anticipates sales of $19 billion this year. It also stated that talks are ongoing to order vaccines in 2023.

Moderna (NASDAQ) said that the vaccine’s value will be lower during the pandemic, and it would change its pricing strategy when COVID-19 starts subsiding.

It also stated that it is working on a “bivalent” vaccine booster, which includes an Omicron-specific booster as well as its COVID-19 original vaccine.

Moderna currently has one product in the marketplace. This is to support its research and development activities as it seeks to develop a wide range of vaccines and treatment using mRNA technology.

Moderna’s shares fell almost 4% during trading, amid weakness in the wider markets.

Moderna projected $18.5 billion sales from its vaccine with $3.5 billion of options. The company now anticipates that it will have $3 billion worth of options.
