Wizz suspends Ukraine flights, trying to evacuate staff, planes -Breaking

LONDON, (Reuters) – Wizz Air stated that it is working to evacuate the Ukrainian based crew and their families from Thursday’s Russian invasion.

The airline stated that Wizz Air had to temporarily cease all flights in Ukraine due to current events and airspace closures.

Cirium Aviation Analytics found that Wizz Air was the airline with the most flights between Europe, Ukraine and Europe, after Ryanair.

According to the company, it is working with all its Ukrainian-based crew and their families to get them out. There are also four other aircraft there: three in Kyiv, one in Lviv.

On Thursday, Ukraine made it impossible for civilian flight to use its airspace after Russia attacked its neighbour’s territory. Meanwhile, Europe’s aviation regulator issued a warning about the risks of flying to bordering countries.
