WASHINGTON (Reuters] – U.S. president Joe Biden has made his selection for the U.S. Supreme Court. This was confirmed by a source familiar with the matter on Thursday.

They did not identify the person and were not able to provide any comment as to when they would make the announcement.

Jen Psaki of the White House stated on Thursday that Biden did not make an offer for a Supreme Court nominee but that he was still on track to name his choice to replace Justice Stephen Breyer before the end the month.

Biden pledged to name the first Black woman judge to the highest court. Senate must confirm the nomination.

Ketanji brown Jackson, an ex-Breyer law clerk, was confirmed last June by the Senate to sit on an influential U.S. appellate Court. Leondra Kruger is currently on the California Supreme Court. Michelle Childs is another potential candidate. Michelle Childs is a South Carolina federal court judge who Biden has already nominated for the U.S. appels court.
