Xi sent a message to Kim stating that China was ready to cooperate with Korea to develop China-DPRK friendship and cooperation… under a new scenario, KCNA stated.
North Korea’s official designation is The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.
KCNA didn’t elaborate further on “a new condition.”
According to KCNA, Xi’s remarks were made in reply to Kim’s congratulatory message to the Beijing Winter Olympics Games. Xi also sent a message of congratulation shortly after the closing ceremony.
Kim had earlier in the week sent a text message to Xi pledging to improve cooperation and “frustrate”, threats and hostile US policies.
The Games ended Sunday and North Korea didn’t participate. According to a January sports authority letter, North Korea claimed that the Games were not possible because of “hostile factors” and COVID-19 risk.
North Korean athletes could not compete under their country’s flag last year after they failed to send any team to Tokyo Summer Olympics. The reason was COVID-19. China is North Korea’s sole major ally, since 1961 when they signed a Treaty.
