Christine Lagarde is the president of European Central Bank (ECB) and has called for lawmakers to approve a regulation framework on crypto. She suggested that this could help Russia avoid economic sanctions.
Lagarde addressed reporters on Friday at an informal meeting between finance and economic ministers. the European Central Bank would be “decisively and rigorously” implementing the sanctions on Russia imposed by European lawmakers in response to the country’s invasion of Ukraine. The ECB President, in response to a question about Russia possibly using crypto to evade certain of the measures, urged that action be taken on a proposal to regulate digital assets.
