WASHINGTON (Reuters] – On Friday, the Biden Administration’s offshore wind development rights sale off New York’s coasts continued to break all records. The total sales reached $3.8 billion and one block sold for over $1 billion.
On Wednesday, the auction was the first under U.S. President Joe Biden. Joe Biden sees expansion of offshore winds as an opportunity to combat climate change, create new jobs, and help the environment.
Six leases were offered by the U.S. Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, which monitors federal energy development, on 488,201 acres (1197,568 ha), between New York’s Long Island (New York) and New Jersey (an area called New York Bight).
