DailyCoin has had Aurory on its radar for a while. We were attracted to it by its attractive graphic style and was among the first to be announced on blockchain. Following that we were only provided with a small amount of information. Now, finally, the time has come, as the developers have published a sizeable whitepaper/manifesto with the world’s description, final design, gameplay mechanics, and a full economic overview including its marketplace and DeFi specifics.

To briefly summarize the game’s premise, Aurory is a virtual pet jRPG based on the Solana blockchain. The game looks to be taking the best bits from the Pokémon series, and complementing them with the benefits of blockchain technology.

Lore

First of all, the developers have fleshed out the lore of game’s world. Aurory tells the story of two parallel universes: ‘Antik‘ and ‘Tokané‘. The first, Antik, is under the regime of the Barons who led it to the financial crisis, while the latter, Tokané, is a magical world filled with unique creatures called ‘Nefties‘.

The story also features Satoshi who created the decentralized financial system opposing the traditional regime, Helios is the first Nefty ever created, and Sam, who is a simple worker, becomes the world’s hero.

The antagonist NPCs will reportedly, and ironically, be called ‘Fuds‘, though the developers haven’t revealed their appearances just yet.

Videogame

Initially, gameplay will be divided into two modes: single player (Player-vs-Environment) and multiplayer (Player-vs-Player). The single player section will allow players to take on the roles of both Sam and Helios. Sam can carry heavy weapons and is stronger than Helios. Helios has magical abilities, climbing trees and the ability to teleport. There will be a variety of PvP championships where you can test your assets.

It will also be different everywhere! There are many iconic varieties, including villages, castles and forests, mountains, taverns and locations that can be used to assist with NPC quests. Each region is home to its own unique Nefties.

The game developers made the following comment about quests:

“JRPGs and Western-style RPGs have a lot to learn from each other in terms of quest structure. Aurory aims to offer the best of both worlds!”

Nefties

Although the creation of Nefties took a lot of inspiration from Pokémon, the developers of Aurory have managed to bring in some new elements to the concept of virtual pet creatures. First off, NFTs are used to purchase monster cards and representative cards, which means that they can be yours. You can get nefties at special events, the market, and from fight eggs.

The characteristics of every Nefty will be different in terms of HP (NYSE :), movement points and initiative. They also have different defense, attack and defence options. Some monsters, like the rare ones that exist in the wild, will be granted special quirk abilities such as shimmering and glitching.

Combat

The players have the option to choose their ultimate moves and skills before going into battle. The battleground is divided into three areas because Aurory can be played as a turn-based role-playing game. In preparation for the Battle, players will create their preferred Nefties using a unique sequence. The team can include tacticians who help determine starting locations and their passive capabilities.

As time passes, the battlefield shrinks to keep players away from hit-and-run or keep playing. This is similar to a battle royale.

Economy Overview

We’ve been already introduced with AURY token before and it will remain as the ecosystem’s main governing currency. However, there will also be 2 sub-currencies: ‘TOKE’ & ‘OKA’. Token will be earned by players who use the free-to play mode, and OKA for those who have invested money. For Nefties to be hatched, players must have eggs (eggs earned through battles, as mentioned previously) and AURY. Both currencies can be converted into AURY. However, the rewards pools for each currency are different. It will not be possible to get TOKE in PvE single player mode.

Apart from the gameplay component, players will also have access to decentralized financial components (a.k.a. There are other methods to make AURY such as staking and NFT stakestaking. The distribution of tokens will follow:

Conclusion

Aurory looks like an exciting project. It has took everything that fans of Pokémon and love, and improved it. Of course, the game is still in its alpha stage, so it’s important at this point not to jump to conclusions, and to take everything with a grain of salt.

Aurory has 45 professional caregivers, including many from Warner Bros, EA and Gameloft. This sets the standard for expectations high.
