Italy to support EU line on Russia sanctions, including on SWIFT

MILAN, (Reuters) – Italy is ready to support the European Union’s line against Russia, in response Moscow’s invasion, Prime Minister Mario Draghi’s Office said Saturday.

On Saturday Draghi spoke by phone with Volodymyr Zilenskiy, the Ukrainian president. “Reiterating Italy…will fully support the European Union’s line against sanctions against Russia including SWIFT,” the office stated in a statement.

The decision to remove Russia from SWIFT is expected in a few days according to the head of a euro zone central bank.
