MOSCOW, (Reuters) – Russia’s central banking said on Sunday it would buy more gold domestically starting Feb. 28. This is part of a series of measures it takes to maintain financial stability during Western sanctions on Moscow.

Russian President Vladimir Putin had earlier ordered that his military command put its nuclear-armed forces under high alert. Ukrainian fighters were defending Kharkiv and claimed they had repelled an invasion by Russian troops.
