Ukraine receives weapons

U.S. Military Aid to Ukraine. On Saturday, a U.S. Defense Department official spoke to CNBC and said that the U.S. would continue to provide military assistance for Ukraine. Secretary of State Antony Blinken earlier in Saturday announced that Javelin missiles will be included in the next round of U.S. aid.

Javelin was developed by defense giants Raytheon Raytheon and Lockheed Martin. It is a lightweight, shoulder-fired missile intended to blast up tanks.

Separately Olaf Scholz of Germany, the Chancellor, announced that Ukraine will receive 1,000 anti-tank guns and 500 stinger weapons. It was a surprising statement, which marks a major shift in Germany’s arms-export policies.

Stinger missiles are similar to Javelins and can only be carried one way. These missiles are designed to take out fixed-wing and helicopters.
