Amazon makes masks optional for U.S. warehouse workers

AmazonWarehouse workers are now allowed to wear masks as Covid-19-related hospitalizations drop nationally.

According to an Amazon notice sent Sunday to workers, the use of face masks by workers at all U.S. operation facilities will cease on Tuesday regardless of whether they have been vaccinated or not, and was seen by CNBC.

The notice says that “This announcement represents an exciting step on our journey to normal operations.”

Amazon recommends that employees not yet vaccinated wear masks. The company stated that employees may choose to wear a face-mask if they wish.

Amazon representatives did not immediately reply to my request for comment.

Amazon launched its December 2008 campaign. revived its mask mandateDue to the high transmissible variant of the omicron, there has been a significant increase in Covid-19 case numbers. Amazon America, second-largest employer WalmartIt hasn’t required vaccines to be administered to its employees.

Similar companies Target Tyson FoodsIn recent weeks, mask policies have been relaxed by Amazon as coronavirus cases have dropped from their highs in January and late last year. Amazon informed vaccinated workers earlier this month that they could work with or without a mask.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Friday releasedThe new mask guidance will allow most people not to wear face covers as long the number of Covid-19 hospitalizations within their localities is low. More than 70% Americans live in areas that don’t require masks.
