Rakuten launches new NFT Marketplace for Fintech and E-commerce

On Friday, Japan-based e-commerce and fintech titan – Rakuten Group, Inc. – announced the launch of its non-fungible token (NFT) marketplace and sales platform Rakuten NFT. Rakuten Group, Inc. is the parent company for this NFT market. This collective enterprise provides a range of digital content and communication services to many people around the globe.

Rakuten NFT (Network for the Purchase of NFTs) is described by the group as an online platform that allows people to trade and buy NFTs. There will be a variety of supported NFTs that the platform supports, including music and animation as well as sports and entertainment. This platform will also allow intellectual property holders (IP) worldwide to set up their own sites for selling and issuing NFTs. The company’s official statement only listed Japanese-themed NFT assets as being available at launch, which include properties such as: Ultraman, TV Asahi, and Japan Professional Football League licensed products.

Rakuten ID allows you to use it when purchasing, and users can earn Rakuten Points. Any NFTs purchased can be added to a collection on the buyer’s own webpage, and can also be put up for sale in the marketplace and sold. The launch of a peer-to–peer service to sell and issue NFT content is expected in 2023.

Rakuten NFT continues to offer new, exciting entertainment experiences. Rakuten NFT delivers greater levels of convenience to all users. The new NFT website launched at https://nft.rakuten.co.jp/, but it is not available in all regions.
