Biden administration launches new ‘KleptoCapture’ task force to go after Russian oligarchs

WASHINGTON – The Biden administration announced a new task force Wednesday that will enforce U.S. sanctions imposed on Russia.
Biden teased the Task Force KleptoCapture Department of Justice Task Force in Tuesday’s State of the Union Address.
Biden announced that “The U.S. Department of Justice will be forming a taskforce to pursue the Russian oligarchs” Biden stated, “We’re coming for your corrupted gains,”
Interagency law enforcement personnel from the FBI Marshals Service and IRS as well as Homeland Security Investigations will take on the new role.
Attorney General Merrick Galrland, in a statement declaring the formation of the new unit, stated that “the Justice Department will use all its authority to seize assets of individuals or entities who violate these Sanctions.”
Garland stated, “We will not leave any stone unturned as we investigate, arrest and pursue those whose crimes enable the Russian government’s unjust war to go on,” Garland concluded.
According to the State Department, Secretary of State Antony Blinken and his Ukrainian counterpart discussed Wednesday’s creation of the task force.
