(Reuters) – CesiumAstro Inc., a company that develops hardware and software to support aerospace communications, announced on Wednesday it raised $60 Million from investors, including Airbus Ventures as well as Kleiner Perkins.

Shey Sabripour, CEO of CesiumAstro and founder of CesiumAstro, stated that a portion will go towards the development of its low-orbit satellites.

Austin-based CesiumAstro’s products enable connectivity between satellites, drones, planes, cars and other mobile devices. Its hardware generates electronically steerable beams of radio waves carrying information between the devices and its software stitches the information together.

According to Sabripour, the products are now more than prototypes.

“We’re starting to ship our initial flight equipment to various customers like NASA…we’re building hardware for Air Force and others,” he said.

Sabripour said that CesiumAstro’s new satellites which incorporate the company’s communications hardware will be available to the public in the third quarter of 2024.

CesiumAstro stated that it has raised close to $90million in capital in the past year since its 2017 inception. The company declined to reveal the amount it was valued in its most recent funding round. Its co-leaders were Airbus Ventures, Forever Ventures and Forever Ventures.
