NEW YORK, (Reuters) – A jury that threw Ghislaine Maxill’s conviction for sex traficking into question by failing to disclose before trial that he was sexually abused in childhood will not answer questions from a judge about the matter. His lawyer stated.

Juror Number. Lawyer Todd Spodek announced that Juror 50 (as he is known by court papers) will invoke his constitutional rights against self-incrimination at a March 8 hearing.

U.S. District Judge Alison Nathan will hear Maxwell’s December 29th conviction for five counts of sexual abuse against underage girls by Jeffrey Epstein.

Maxwell’s attorneys demanded a fresh trial following the disclosure by Maxwell that he had shared his past of sexual abuse with jurors during deliberations.

Nathan denied Maxwell’s request but said that the jury’s statements were “incontrovertible proof” that Maxwell answered falsely on the screening questionnaire asking whether he was sexually abused. This denied the defense the opportunity to ask him about bias.

Juror no. Juror No. 50. He signed the form as perjury and could be subject to legal penalties if he lies.

Nathan was informed by Nathan that Maxwell’s prosecution won his conviction. They will be seeking an order to compel Juror Number. 50’s testimony.

Maxwell (60) faces up to 65 year imprisonment. Epstein committed suicide at the age 66 while waiting for his trial in Manhattan on charges of sextrafficking.
