Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich to sell Chelsea amid Ukraine war

Roman Abramovich, a Russian oligarch said Wednesday that he will sell the Chelsea soccer clubThis dramatic reaction to Russian invasion of Ukraine in England is seen as a response in England.

Abramovich announced simultaneously that he instructed the well-respected team to establish a foundation which will utilize all net proceeds of Chelsea’s sale to benefit all Ukrainian war victims.

Abramovich released a statement saying that “I would like address the speculation over the last few days in relation to Chelsea FC’s ownership.”

As I stated previously, I always made decisions in the best interests of the Club. Given the circumstances, I made the decision to sell Club because I feel it is best for the club, its fans and employees.
