MONTREAL (Reuters) – Business jet maker Bombardier (OTC:) Inc said on Friday it has suspended all activities with Russian clients, as more companies cut ties in the country following the introduction of sweeping sanctions over Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Canada and other Western countries have placed sanctions against prominent Russians. They also took steps to stop their business dealings with Russia.

“We will continue to adhere to international laws, regulations and sanctions, as they evolve,” the Montreal-based company said in a statement.

Bombardier explained that all types of technical support are included in the suspended activities.

According to the company, about 5% or 6 percent of business jet deliveries have traditionally been made to regional customers. According to the company, $12.2 billion is its latest order backlog.

According to data from the government, Canada has exported aircraft worth nearly C$112million ($87.97 million to Russia) for 2021. This is the highest export value in five years.

Transport Canada also announced that it cleared a private plane to leave Yellowknife on Friday. It had determined the plane had not been registered or owned by Russia and had “operated in contravention” of the country’s airspace regulations when it arrived on March 1.

Canadian regulator Dunard Engineering Ltd, a Geneva-based operator of aircrafts, was fined C$15,000 by the Canadian regulator. C$3,000 penalties were imposed on each pilot and the Russian national chartered to the plane.
