Google suspends all advertising in Russia

GoogleRussia’s advertising has been suspended

After Russia’s internet watchdog Roskomnadzor accused YouTube (a Google division) of conducting large advertising campaigns that misled Russians about Ukraine’s invasion, the decision has been taken.

Roskomnadzor requested that Google cease showing false advertisements about the Ukraine war. a reportThe Wall Street Journal, Thursday.

CNBC was informed Friday by a spokesperson for Google that “In view of the extraordinary circumstances”, we are suspending Google ads in Russia. The situation is rapidly changing, so we’ll continue sharing updates as appropriate.”

Advertisements on YouTube, search and display marketing are exempted from suspension

Google announced earlier this week that it would no longer be advertising Russian state media content. It also stated that they did not wish people to profit from the conflict.
