Huawei’s competitor to Tesla electric cars to begin deliveries in China

BEIJING — The first electric car with Huawei’s HarmonyOS operating system is set to begin deliveries at a ceremony on Saturday in Shanghai, according to an announcement on social media.

Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei’s Consumer Business Group spent one hour with the launch team for winter products in December. promoting the car, the Aito M5.The Chinese telecommunications firm has stressed that they will not manufacture cars by themselves, but rather work in partnership with car manufacturers for autonomous driving.

Seres is behind the Aito M5. According to Sokon’s website, the company, also called SF Motors, is a Silicon Valley-based subsidiary.

Aito reports that the SUV’s mid-sized size costs 249 800 yuan ($39 651) before subsidies. Tesla increased its Model Y’s post-subsidy cost in China by 2188 yuan, to 301.840 yuan, in December.
