(Reuters) – Michelin (PA): The world-famous Russian restaurant Guide said Friday it would stop recommending restaurants in Russia as a response to Moscow’s invasion in Ukraine
Michelin stated in a statement that the Michelin Guide team had made the tough decision to stop all Russian restaurant recommendation activities due to the crisis.
The statement stated that all development projects in Russia had been frozen. It also said that social media activities in Russia have also been suspended.
In 2021, Michelin published the first Moscow selection. It included nine restaurants which were given the star award by critics. This prestigious label is a sign that the restaurant has been ranked among the top restaurants in the world.
Michelin declared that he had made the conscious decision to not promote Moscow as an attractive destination.
Accordingly, this year the Moscow selection won’t be updated.
The meaning of Friday’s announcement about Russian restaurants losing their star was unclear.
