U.S. stocks lower at close of trade; Dow Jones Industrial Average down 0.53% -Breaking

Investing.com – U.S. stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

The index was down 0.66% at the close of NYSE. It fell 0.53% after the close.

Walmart Inc (NYSE 🙂 was the best performer of the session, rising 2.53% or 3.53 point to close at 142.82. UnitedHealth Group Incorporated (+2.48%) added 12.06 points to 498.65, while Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc (NASDAQ:), was up 2.04% to 47.72.

They were also the worst performers of the session. Boeing Co (NYSE:) The close trade was at 180.84, down 4.24% (8.01 points). American Express Company (NYSE 🙂 dropped 3.86% or 6.94 point to finish at 172.95 Visa Inc The class A (NYSE:) fell 3.35% to 200.29, which is 6.94 more points.

The top performers on the S&P 500 were Occidental Petroleum Corporation (NYSE:) which rose 17.59% to 56.15, Mosaic Co (NYSE:) which was up 7.49% to settle at 59.83 and Kroger Company (NYSE:) which gained 6.97% to close at 58.94.

PVH Corporation (NYSE:), down 11.57% to 79.516 in late trading, Aptiv PLC [NYSE:] which lost 9.41% and settled at 105.87. United Airlines Holdings Inc was at 9.07% to 36.671 at the close.

Top performers of the NASDAQ Composite are Atreca Inc (NASDAQ:), which rose 211.38% up to 5.20 Imperial Petroleum Inc (NASDAQ) was up 53.64% at 3.38, while VEON Ltd. (NASDAQ) gained 52.09% at 0.40.

They were among the most disappointing. Cerberus Cyber Sentinel Corp (NASDAQ:), which fell 25.74% to 4.53 late trade. Cambium Networks Corp (NASDAQ:), which fell 24.66% to 20.56, and View Inc (NASDAQ.) which dropped 23.78% to 1.41 by the end.

The New York Stock Exchange saw falling stocks surpass advancing by 2128 to 1077. 146 closed unchanged. On the Nasdaq Stock Exchange 2791 were down and 1004 advanced while 242 closed unchanged.

Occidental Petroleum Corporation (NYSE 🙂 shares rose to 52-week peak levels; an increase of 17.59%, 8.40 to 56.15. PVH Corp (NYSE 🙂 shares fell to 52 week lows, losing 11.57% (10.36 to 79.16). Mosaic Co. (NYSE:), shares rose to five-year highs, rising 7.49% (4.17 to 59.83). Aptiv PLC’s shares (NYSE:), fell 9.41% to 52 week lows, falling 11.00 to105.87. Kroger Company (NYSE 🙂 shares reached all-time highs, up 6.97% (3.84 to 58.94). United Airlines Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ:), shares fell 9.07%, or 3.66 to 37.71. Boeing Co (NYSE;) shares plunged to 52 week lows, losing 4.24% (8.01 to 180.84). View Inc (NASDAQ) shares fell 23.78%, or 0.44 to 1.41 to their lowest level in over a decade.

The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was up 4.92% to 31.98.

The April delivery of Gold Futures was up by 1.98%, or 38.40, to $1974.30 per troy ounce. Other commodities traded included Crude oil, which rose 6.84% to reach $115.03/barrel in April, and the May Brent Oil contract, which rose 6.85% to trade at $118.03.

The EUR/USD fell by 1.26%, to 1.09, and the USD/JPY dropped 0.55% at 114.82.

At 98.50, the US Dollar Index Futures rose 0.72%.
