Disney+ will add cheaper plan—how other streaming services compare

Disney+ revealed Friday that the service will launch on Friday soon offer a cheaper ad-supported subscription plan. This is the latest of a number of updates made by streaming service providers like Netflix, Amazon Prime and HBO Max.

  • Discovery+: Ad-supported tiers cost $4.99 per months, while the free tiers are $6.99 each month. New subscribers can also get a free 7-day trial, and a $2.99/month student plan.  
  • HBO Max: A tier that is ad-supported and priced at In May 2012, an additional $9.99 was added to the monthly cost. New subscribers can enjoy a seven-day trial of the ad-free version for $14.99 per year.
  • Hulu: The basic options are a $6.99 per-month ad-supported or $12.99 per-month adfree. New subscribers to either plan get their first month free. Hulu offers a live television plan that includes access to ESPN+ or Disney+. Live TV plans are available in ad free or supported versions for $79.99 per month.
  • NetflixPlans are priced according to the stream quality. Basic, Premium, and Standard plans will cost $9.99, $19.99, and $15.49, respectively. There are three resolution options: 4K Premium, Standard and Basic. These options are all new. recently raised pricesCurrent subscribers will receive the update by March 31st.
  • Peacock: There are three tiers: a free ad-supported plan, a Premium ad-supported plan with additional content for $4.99 per month and an ad-free Plus plan for $9.99 per month.
  • Paramount Plus:A new ad supported Essential plan launched last summer, priced at $4.99 per monthly or $49.99 per annum. A Premium version without ads costs $9.99 per month or $99.99 annually. Showtime is also available as an add-on for $11.99 to the Premium plan and $14.99 to the Essential plan. Each plan has a seven-day free trial.
