WASHINGTON (Reuters] – A congressional aide said that the U.S. House of Representatives would vote Tuesday on legislation to prohibit Russian energy product imports and to suspend trade relations with Russia.

According to an aide, Monday’s text will be available. An alliance of important tax- and trade-writing legislators stated in a joint statement they had agreed on a path forward for banning the import of Russia-made energy products.

The President would be able to increase tariffs for goods coming from Russia and Belarus. U.S. Trade Representative Katherine Tai would have to ask to suspend Russia’s participation at the World Trade Organization.
