Dollar Tree names Mantle Ridge founder to board -Breaking

(Reuters). – Discount Store Operator Dollar Tree Inc (NASDAQ) announced Tuesday that Paul Hilal, the founder of Mantle Ridge activist investor firm, was named to its board. Richard Dreiling, a rival Dollar General (NYSE), has been appointed its executive chair.

Dollar Tree stated that it had offered to negotiate a settlement to Mantle Ridge, as well as handing a seat on its board to an ex-chief executive from a competitor retailer. It called Mantle Ridge’s attempt to take control of the board by activist investor firm “unwarrantedly aggressive”
