REUTERS/Stefano RellandiniMILAN, (Reuters) – Italy’s Leonardo will consider the European efforts to create common military capabilities in assessing the options of selling two units of defence, according to unions after meeting the CEO.
Representatives of the Italian metalworkers union FIOM Cgil stated in a statement, that Leonardo had not made clear its plans for its OTO Melara or Wass units. It put them on the block last January.
Three sources confirmed to Reuters on Tuesday that Leonardo had stopped trying to buy the OTO Melara/wass units. Rome also stated that they believed any decision regarding the future of these units must be made in the context of a wider defense strategy.
