Russia invasion killed 549 civilians in Ukraine, United Nations says

Russia invaded Ukraine, killing at least 549 civilians. Of these, 41 were children. the United Nations said ThursdayHowever, it is important to note that actual deaths are believed to be much higher.
According to UN’s Office for the High Commissioner For Human Rights, another 957 people have been killed in Ukraine by the Russian military invasion two weeks back.
“Emplicit weapons that have a broad range of capabilities were responsible for most civilian casualties,”

“OHCHR believes that the actual figures are considerably higher, especially in Government-controlled territory and especially in recent days,” the office said.
According to the report, it was difficult to obtain information from places where there have been “intense hostilities”. According to the UN office, many of these reports were “still pending confirmation.”
This is, for instance, Volnovakha, Mariupol and Izium, where they are located.
“There are allegations about hundreds of civilian casualties,” it said. The office also noted that the report didn’t include statistics regarding casualties in those regions.
It was noted in the report that the Ukrainian Parliament Commissar for Human Rights had stated that 61 children were killed and that another 100 were hurt.
UN Human Rights Commissioner said that its statistics were based upon information obtained from “contact persons” and other partners who have been in areas where there has been civilian casualties.
The report came as Ukrainian officials condemned a Russia airstrike on a children’s hospitalIn the port city Mariupol, as a war crime. Officials said that the attack left three people dead, including a child.
The World Health Organization reports that Russian forces have attacked hospitals 18 times since the invasion began.
