PfizerCNBC CEO Albert Bourla stated that plans are in place to provide data to the Food and Drug Administration to get a fourth Covid shot. The agency is working on a vaccine against all forms of coronavirus.

“I believe that we are going to submit the FDA a significant amount of data regarding the need of a fourth dose. The FDA will then need to come up with their conclusions. The CDC should follow suit. … It’s clear that there is a need in an environment of omicron to boost the immune response,” Bourla said in an interview on “Squawk Box.” 

“We’re making a vaccine for omicron, and all of the variants. The number of trials underway is staggering, with many of these we will begin reading by the middle of the month,” said he later.

Bourla’s comment comes exactly two years following the declaration of Covid as a pandemic in March 2020 by World Health Organization. The global economy was then halted.

Bourla said that although there is some evidence of normal returns, he remains vigilant to creating effective vaccines. “I think that the most important question facing all of us is how do we stay ahead of the disease.”

Pfizer was working on a vaccine to prevent infection, as well as preventing severe infections and hospitalizations. 

Bourla stated that vaccines cannot be given every six, five or six months. “We should be able and able to get around as fast as we can.”
