Sony Pictures Entertainment has paused business operations in Russia -Breaking

(Reuters) – Sony Pictures Entertainment announced Friday, NYSE: that it had halted all business activities in Russia after two weeks of suspending theatrical releases.

Tony Vinciquerra, chairman of Sony Pictures Entertainment, sent a message to employees stating that they would stop any planned home entertainment releases. This included “Spider-Man: No Way Home” and future TV distribution agreements. Crunchyroll has also stopped streaming anime in Russia.

Vinciquerra said, “Our thoughts and prayers are with the people who were affected”

Sony Pictures (T:) is the unit that makes up Sony Corp.

Following growing concern about violence in Ukraine, the film studio has decided to cease operations. This follows steps taken earlier this week, by Sony Music, and Sony Interactive Entertainment. They also stopped hardware and software shipments.
