FordCompany has laid out plans for three new passenger electric cars and four new commercial vehicles to be launched in Europe in 2024. The company also said it would expect to sell more than 600,000. Electric Vehicles each year within the region in 2026.

Automotive giant Ford also desires that all European vehicle sales be emission-free by 2035.

Ford stated Monday that ramping up will begin in Cologne in the German city of Cologne with the 2023 production of the medium-sized crossover electric vehicle.

In 2024 another electric vehicle will begin to be manufactured in Cologne. A second electric Ford Puma will also start production in Romania the following year.

Ford claimed that Cologne’s EV production was now slated for 1.2million vehicles over a 6-year span. Cologne plans to invest $2 billion in EVs.

Four new Ford Transit electric models will be available for commercial vehicles, and production will begin in 2023.

Stuart Rowley from Ford of Europe, chair of the organization, stated Monday that electrification is “the greatest transformative change we have seen in this industry for over 100 years.”

Ford also said it had signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding with South Korea’s SK On Co. and Turkey’s Koç Holding. This MOU is about the creation of a joint venture that will focus on the development of an EV-powered commercial battery plant near Ankara, Turkey.

If everything goes as planned, production of the plant is expected to begin in the middle part of 2010. Ford claimed that Ford and his JV received support from Turkey’s government. The plant will have an annual capacity of between 30 and 45 gigawatts.

This all comes as the European Union aims to lower the environmental impact of transport.

European Commission is the executive arm of EU. It aims to reduce CO2 emissions by 100% from vehicles and vans between 2035-2035. Turkey isn’t part of the EU, which would house the battery plant.
