TOKYO (Reuters), -Japan’s transport minister will revoke Hino Motors Ltd.’s certificate for four engines due to insufficient emissions data submitted by the Toyota Motor (NYSE.) Corp Unit, The ministry stated Friday.

It will apply to Toyota Motor Corp vehicles and Isuzu Motors Ltd cars that have one of these Hino engines. The ministry will officially announce it on March 25, according to a statement.

Hino admitted this month to having falsified data regarding the performance of three engines’ emissions and fuel economy. A fourth engine had performance that was less than the specification, but it did not find evidence of misconduct.

To investigate this matter, it has created a committee of special investigators made up of external experts.

Hino stated that approximately 115,000 cars are equipped with these engines.

Hino is just one of a number of Japanese automakers that have been involved in illegal emissions testing.

The government ruled that Mazda Motor Corp (OTC:) Corp., Suzuki Motor Corp. and Yamaha Motor Co Ltd had improperly tested their vehicles for emissions and fuel economy in 2018.

For the same reason, Subaru (OTC) Corp. and Nissan (OTC) Motor Co Ltd. were both under surveillance.

In 2015, the accuracy of emissions data from automakers was cast into question when Germany’s Volkswagen AG (OTC) confessed to installing secret software on hundreds of thousands U.S.-made diesel vehicles in order to cheat emissions testing. It is possible that up 11 million cars could have this software worldwide.
