(Reuters) – The union that represents workers at a Chevron (NYSE:) A Richmond oil refinery, California has instructed its workers to be ready for strike at 12 AM on Monday, if there is no agreement on a new labor deal.

In a notice sent to its members, the United Steelworkers union of the plant that produces 245,000 barrels per day outside San Francisco stated it had canceled an extension and “offered the company safe and orderly shut down.” It was still waiting for a response from Chevron.

Chevron spokespeople declined to comment immediately. Local media reported that a Chevron official had previously told employees that Chevron planned to keep the plant operating, as per a report in local media.
