WASHINGTON, (Reuters) – U.S. President Joseph Biden will visit Poland Friday to talk about the international response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Jen Psaki, White House spokesperson said that this was in line with what Jen Psaki had stated late Sunday.

Biden will travel to Warsaw where he will hold a bilateral meeting with President Andrzej Duda, the White House said. According to the Polish border guard, more than 2 million Ukrainian refugees entered Poland since February 24, when the Russian invasion began.

Biden’s Poland trip will come a day after he meets in Brussels with NATO Allies, G7 Leaders and European Union Leaders to discuss international efforts to support Ukraine after Russia’s invasion, the White House said.

The White House also said Biden will host a call Monday at 11 a.m. EST with President Emmanuel Macron of France, Chancellor Olaf Scholz of Germany, Prime Minister Mario Draghi of Italy, and Prime Minister Boris Johnson of the United Kingdom to discuss their coordinated responses to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

United Nations data shows that about 3.2million people have fled Ukraine in the past month. It is now Europe’s largest refugee crisis. According to the U.N., some 2 million Ukrainians who entered Poland in March have fled to EU countries but “the vast majority” are still believed to be in Poland.

Biden will participate in an emergency NATO Summit on Ukraine on Wednesday, as well as G7 meetings. According to the White House, he will be attending a European Council Summit on Ukraine to “include transatlantic efforts that impose economic costs upon Russia, provide human support for those who have been affected by violence and address any other challenges associated with the conflict.”

Psaki earlier stated that Biden had not planned to visit Ukraine on his European trip this weekend.
