Russia tells U.S. envoy ties close to rupture after Biden’s comments -Breaking

(Reuters] -The Russian foreign ministry stated Monday that the U.S. had summoned it. Ambassador John Sullivan was summoned by Russia’s foreign ministry to inform it that President Joe Biden’s remarks regarding Russian President Vladimir Putin pushed bilateral ties closer to collapse.

Last week, President Biden declared that Putin is a war criminal for sending thousands of troops to Ukraine.

In a statement, the ministry claimed that such statements from an American president were unworthy of any statesman of such high standing.

The Kremlin described these comments earlier as “personal insults against Putin”.

Sullivan was also informed by the ministry that Russia’s hostile actions would be met with a firm and decisive response.

Russia sent tens of thousands of troops into Ukraine on Feb. 24 in what it called a special operation to degrade its southern neighbour’s military capabilities and root out people it called dangerous nationalists.

The West has placed severe sanctions against Moscow to try to stop the resistance of Ukrainian forces to Russian troops.
