Russian car maker Avtovaz partially halts production over shortages -Breaking

© Reuters. (Reuters) – Russian top carmaker Avtovaz announced Monday that it is temporarily halting production at two of its Togliatti plants on March 21-25, due to a shortage of electronic parts.
Avtovaz controlled by French automaker Renault This month, (PA) has had to temporarily stop production due to these shortages.
Renault manufactures two models for Izhevsk’s Russian markets, Logan (and Sandero) – along with LADA models. Avovaz announced that LADA Izhevsk will produce its Vesta model, as well as vehicles using Renault’s B0 platform.
Avtovaz said that the work on all lines of assembly will cease on March 23-25. But that certain production functions would still be in operation during this time.
French carmaker, Renault, has suspended certain operations at Russia’s own auto assembly plant.
After two years of losses and a return to profit, Renault is one of the most vulnerable Western businesses to Russia. According to Citibank, Russia accounts for 8% of Western company’s core earnings.
