SHANGHAI (Reuters). – In February 2018, China’s smartphone shipment fell by 31.8% to 14.5million handsets, according to the China Academy of Information and Communications.

According to the CAICT (a government-backed think tank), shipment numbers were lower than in 2021, when there were 21.3 million and 32.4 millions respectively.

A global shortage in computer chips is causing production problems for many handset brands.

Numerous automobile manufacturers have reported problems with chip sourcing due to a combination of U.S. tensions, unanticipated factory shutdowns, and demand miscalculation.

This shortage is now affecting all sorts of chips, as well hardware including smartphones.

China’s slow sales have been caused by delayed upgrades from Chinese consumers.
