China plane crash ‘unprecedented’ given good safety record: Analyst

An aircraft such as China EasternAccording to one aviation analyst, the Boeing 737-800 plane crashed in mid-air. This is “simply unheard of,” citing its impeccable safety record.

The safest means of transport is air travel. However, when there are incidents and accidents we see nothing like what was seen in China the previous 24 hours,” Alex Macheras (an independent aviation analyst) told CNBC’s Capital Connection on Tuesday.

This nosedive, particularly from cruising altitude, was truly unprecedented. This is the most safe phase of flight. He said that this is why we need to know as quickly as possible.

At Tuesday morning’s time, no bodies nor survivors had been recovered from the wreckage. Chinese state media said.

When it crashed Monday afternoon in Guangxi, the domestic flight carried 132 passengers.

The plane was cruising at 29,100 feet and began a sharp descent after 2:20 p.m., recovering more than 1,000 feet briefly — then continuing to dive again before it lost contact. In just two minutes, it fell to more than 21,000 feet.

China’s Monday crash of the 737-801 was the second time this aircraft had crashed. This plane first flew in June 2015. After two fatal crashes in 2018, and 2019, the Boeing 737 Max was ground worldwide, but this plane wasn’t a Boeing 737 Max. China was one of the first countries to ground the 737 Max after the second of two fatal crashes in 2018 and 2019.

Safety record of aircraft

Sheila Kahyaoglu is an aerospace and defense analyst for Jefferies. She said that the safety record makes it very likely something unexpected happened while the plane was in flight.

CNBC’s Tuesday interview with her stated that she doubts the issue is a manufacturer’s problem, citing the aircraft’s safety record and nine fatal crashes in its 25-year history.

She acknowledged that it was too soon to consider that or draw that conclusion. This suggests that “something unusual” may have occurred, given the good safety record of the aircraft.

You can search for the black box

The U.S. National Transportation Safety Board stated that the plane was an American-made aircraft and has assigned an investigator to investigate the accident.

Black boxes, which contain flight data and cockpit voice recordings, will be recovered by investigators. Investigators will likely also examine previous flight records, maintenance histories, and health of the pilot.

Macheras claimed that the black box is what will ultimately push investigators to the right path, in their quest for answers.

As the cause of the crash is still unsolved, regulators will have to ask what role the aircraft played. [minds]”All over the world,” he stated. He said that there is always risk. That’s why investigators will try to rule out any possible threats. However, we believe that the black box will have the greatest impact.
