WASHINGTON – SpaceX has sent “thousands” of Starlink satellite internet kits to Ukraine, company President Gwynne Shotwell told CNBC on Tuesday.

Elon Musk’sSpace company began sending Ukraine shipments of Starlink satellite kits – which come with an antenna, a mounting tripod and a Wi-Fi router – shortly after Russia invaded. The Starlink kits can be used by Ukrainians to link directly to SpaceX’s orbital network. SpaceX has launched approximately 2,000 satellites so far.

“I am proud of the fact that we were able provide terminals for people in Ukraine. Shotwell stated this during an appearance at Satellite 2022 in Washington D.C.

Shotwell did not give a precise number on the total amount of Ukrainian dishes that the company had shipped. She spoke after the panel to CNBC. While she acknowledged that Starlink kit funding has been largely funded by private sources, Shotwell said that France helped and that Poland was helping.

Shotwell claimed that the U.S. had not given any money to Ukraine to purchase terminals.

CNBC did not receive any comment from the Polish and French embassies in America.
