WASHINGTON, (Reuters) – U.S. Senate Majority leader Chuck Schumer stated Tuesday that he plans to vote this spring on a bill which would limit the price of insulin. This is a life-sustaining drug for diabetes.

Schumer indicated that the bill would establish a 35-month cap on insulin payments for patients. Schumer also said the plan would pair with an emerging bipartisan plan “in order to reduce the price in a more comprehensive fashion, such as having the uninsured insured protected.”

After a recess in April, the Democratic leader said that he was working on putting the legislation before the Senate floor.
