Nestle to suspend brands in Russia, including KitKat and Nesquik -Breaking

LONDON (Reuters), -Nestle stated Wednesday that it will suspend many brands, including KitKat in Russia and Nesquik there. The announcement came days after Volodymyr Zeleskiy, Ukraine’s President, criticized Nestle for operating in Russia.

Nestle’s decision to not completely withdraw from Russia following the invasion of Ukraine has drawn criticism from politicians, activists groups, and consumers in recent weeks. Nescafe and Maggi, the Swiss food manufacturer from Switzerland, has repeatedly stated that Russia will still receive essential foods such as food for infants and nutrition aid.

The company stated previously that it has stopped imports and exports to Russia of non-essential goods, stopped advertising and suspended capital investment. Also, it stated it wasn’t making any profit in Russia.

According to a spokesperson, the company will now suspend all prewar Russian trade categories such as pet food and coffee.

Nestle stated in the most recent statement about its Russian operations that “We stand by the people of Ukraine” and its 5,800 employees. Nestle stated that Russian workers would be paid as usual.
