On Wednesday, Supreme Court nominee Ketanji Jackson will answer the final round of senators’ questions at her confirmation hearings.

Jackson is the first Supreme Court nominee for President Joe Biden. spent more than 13 hours Before the Senate Judiciary Committee Tuesday to defend her judicial qualifications and career. If she is confirmed, she would be the first Black woman elected to serve on the U.S. Supreme Court, where all members are permanent.

In Tuesday’s hearing, Jackson was grilled by Republicans about her sentencing records. They mainly focused on cases involving child pornography.

These members claimed Jackson issued too light punishments for defendants in these cases. However, many fact-checkers found that those allegations were misleading.

Jackson stood by her record. At times, Jackson used forceful arguments. Democratic committee members spent a large portion of their time fighting for Jackson.

The hearing will open Wednesday with the Sens. Jon Ossoff D-Ga. and Thom Tillis R-N.C. did not complete the 30-minute rounds of Jackson’s questions yesterday. The second round of questions begins with 22 members of Judiciary asking Jackson questions for 20 minutes, depending on their seniority.

Jackson appears to be on track to become a Supreme Court justice.

Jackson must have at least 50 votes to join the Supreme Court. Kamala Harris, Vice President of the Democrats holds a tiebreaking vote to her fellow Democrats as well as the two independents that routinely vote in the party’s favor.

Democrats are able to confirm Jackson even if there is no opposition.

None of the Democrats that have stated they are going to vote against Jackson so far.
