(Reuters) – More than 14.5 Million Americans have signed up for Obamacare insurance in 2022. This is a 21% increase over the previous year, and it’s the largest enrollment since the Affordable Care Act, which was passed 12 years ago.

There were 10.3 Million people who enrolled in 33 U.S. States that used the online marketplace that was funded by federal funds and 4.3 Mio people from other states that sold the insurance directly to their citizens.

This law was the signature domestic piece of legislation that Barack Obama used to sign.

U.S. President Joe Biden claimed in a statement that the Affordable Healthcare Act had improved healthcare for many millions of Americans. His administration also reported an increase in enrollment in Hispanic Americans at 26%, and Black Americans at 35%.

Biden stated Wednesday that over 18.7 millions adult Americans in 39 states now have coverage under Medicaid’s expanded eligibility criteria.

In order to provide income-based assistance for those who enroll in government-backed insurance, the government provides subsidies. This insurance is sold by companies like Centene (NYSE:), CVS Health, (NYSE:), and Anthem Inc.
