LONDON, Reuters – Britain will supply Ukraine with approximately 6,000 missile defense systems and nearly 30 million pounds (40 million dollars) in support of the BBC’s reporting on the area and to pay pilots and soldiers.

Boris Johnson, the British Prime Minister will announce the support package on Thursday during the NATO/G7 Leaders’ Meetings. He also indicated that he was open to further strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities.

Johnson declared that “The United Kingdom will cooperate with our allies to boost military and financial support to Ukraine, strengthening the defences of their homeland as they turn this tide in this war.”

The international community is faced with a difficult choice one month after this crisis began. Either we keep Ukraine’s freedom burning or let it die in Europe and around the globe.

In the deal, the UK will supply 6,000 missiles to Ukraine and provide financial support of 25 million pounds for its military. To support its Ukrainian-Russian language services and counter disinformation, it will provide the BBC World Service with 4.1million pounds.

Britain stated that with this new pledge, it will provide up to 10,000 rockets. This money is in addition of the 400 million pounds dedicated for humanitarian and economic aid.

The NATO Summit in Brussels on Thursday is likely to open up additional funding for Kyiv, including equipment that will help Ukraine defend against radiological, chemical and nuclear threats.
